Latest ISFP NewsISFP has joined Software Process Improvement Programinitiated by Software Engineering Competence CentreSECC which aimed to help the Small and MediumEnterprises (SMEs) to raise the quality of their products byusing modern software development processes andpractices.The objective of this program is to build the capacity of local IT SMEs in processimprovement with the aim of qualifying them to participate in exporting theirproductsand services, as well as become reliable partners while cooperating withinternationaloffshore enterprises and organizations for offshore development oreven other local ITcompanies. The aim of this Software Process Improvement (SPI) program is todevelop an adaptable model of excellence in software development based on therelated international standards and best practice. SECC introduces the “SPIGProduct Suite” as a complete solution that can be used in the process improvementefforts. The Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model forSoftware (CMMI®) was in use by SECC to improve and assess the large enterprisescapability for software engineering. The workshop decision was to use five KeyProcess Areas (KPAs) from SW-CMMI® Level 2 and two KPAs from Level 3:Requirements Management; Project Planning; Project Tracking; Quality Assurance;Configuration Management; Software Product Engineering; and Peer Reviews. ISFPjoined Software Process Improvement Program in 2008 to improve the softwareengineering practices to higher maturity levels, to achieve strong presence in theinternational market. Eng. Ahmed El Sheikh was assigned from SECC as ISFPconsultant for SPI program to implement process improvement in a pilot and ISFPsuccessfully implemented the pilot project using SPIG process and has achieved93% in the final assessment.
