ISFP has joined Software Process Improvement Program initiated by Software Engineering Competence Centre SECC which aimed to help the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to raise the quality of their products by using modern software development processes and practices. The objective of this program is to build the capacity of local IT SMEs in process improvement with the aim of qualifying them to participate in exporting theirproducts and services, as well as become reliable partners while cooperating withinternational offshore enterprises and organizations for offshore development oreven other local IT companies. The aim of this Software Process Improvement (SPI) program is to develop an adaptable model of excellence in software development based on the related international standards and best practice. SECC introduces the “SPIG Product Suite” as a complete solution that can be used in the process improvement efforts. The Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model for Software (CMMI®) was in use by SECC to improve and assess the large enterprises capability for software engineering. The workshop decision was to use five Key Process Areas (KPAs) from SW-CMMI® Level 2 and two KPAs from Level 3: Requirements Management; Project Planning; Project Tracking; Quality Assurance; Configuration Management; Software Product Engineering; and Peer Reviews. ISFP joined Software Process Improvement Program in 2008 to improve the software engineering practices to higher maturity levels, to achieve strong presence in the international market. Eng. Ahmed El Sheikh was assigned from SECC as ISFP consultant for SPI program to implement process improvement in a pilot and ISFP successfully implemented the pilot project using SPIG process and has achieved 93% in the final assessment. |
