As one of the largest national port within the middle-east region, Alexandria Port Authority has worked to advance understanding of the world’s economy globalization as to become one of the most powerful port in the region.

Business need:
In order to meet rising customer expectations and stay ahead of the competition, APA sought to enrich the overall port operation services by providing a valuable and relevant solution that completely restructure the manual process of documents exchange between port community members.
|
|
Alexandria Port Authority and ISFP worked together to create a first-of-a-kind "smart" Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) that automates the documentary exchange between port community members through seamless and flexible procedures. The ESB explores wide range of services to achieve the main target of the integration process, providing high level of decoupling between different applications working within the port sphere.

ISFP has implemented one of the most powerful and advanced ESB solutions “IBM Message Broker”, a robust middleware that defines the backbone for corporate integration. It represents a combination of technologies that are responsible for connecting disparate application components without each application component having complete dependency on other application components (inclusive of programming language, platform, operating system, transport, etc.)
The message broker becomes the intermediary between all component technologies, and introduces an information pipeline that acts like a kind of information superhighway for incoming and outgoing messages regardless of the applications that connect to it. An application component will plug into the ESB via its published interfaces and necessary adapters. Likewise, applications can be easily added or removed as business demands dictate without concern of complex integration requirements in a rigid environment.
Combination of IBM WebSphere MQ and the Message Broker were the “heart” of the introduced solution. They serve as the central medium, doing the required translations, conversions and routiing wherever they may be needed. It simply eliminates all the massive tweaking that had to be done at the application level previously. ISFP had introduced a sustainable architecture — not a solution to be implemented today for a benefit today. It allows Alexandria Port Authority to build a really strategic core infrastructure — one they can keep building on.”
